CORONA 2012 Gains International Recognition for Innovation

01 - 05 - 2013

CORONA 2012 has been selected by Infravation’s Road Infrastructure Innovation Expo committee to exhibit in Brussels on 4–6 June.

Organisations from around the world were invited to apply to showcase their latest research and innovation results at this advanced and innovative construction- and maintenance-themed event. Applications had to demonstrate concrete results and were judged on their novelty, innovation, market potential and maturity.

"CORONA underwent vigorous pilot testing in which it dramatically reduced a highways maintenance and construction project’s costs by £250,000 within five months. It has also achieved unprecedented health and safety improvements for a water company . This is the first time we have shown CORONA 2012 to an international audience," commented Tim Usher, director of Lightsout Computer Services.

Having won a place in this showcase, CORONA 2012 will be seen by policy-makers, infrastructure managers, leading CEOs, standardisation agencies, top researchers, other innovators, European Commission delegates and members of the media.

FIRM13 (FEHRL Infrastructure Research Meeting 2013) will run sessions on infrastructure innovation, implementation and maintenance, including adaptation to climate change, knowledge transfer and asset management. The programme will also include sessions with innovation funding agencies and a workshop on barriers to market uptake.

Infravation is a trans-nationally funded research programme, and this is the first expo it has held. It enables national and regional bodies to support the research and demonstration of innovative products, systems and services for transport infrastructure.
